And it all began with...
...»Oídos, manos y corazón- la interacción con el cliente». (In English: Ears, hands, and heart-the interaction with the client.)
This simple idea had been in my mind since 2012, although I didn’t dare to publish it on LinkedIn until 2019.
During the many hours I’ve spent on planes for work, I always tried to visualize how meetings or conversations with clients, distributors, or suppliers would go.
Somehow, mentally reviewing the points and concepts I wanted to communicate made me feel more confident. Also, after each day, when I arrived at the hotel, I would analyze again how I had interacted (confident, aggressive, empathetic, hesitant…), whether I had achieved the goal I was seeking in each meeting or not, and so on.
To sum it up, I think I was trying to keep a mental notebook that would help me learn how to interact with people professionally. At first, I was very frustrated if things didn’t go as expected. But as time went by, I think I’ve internalized different concepts, learning and putting into practice what I learned or adapting it according to the context.
In my opinion, interaction with a client (a person after all), in its most basic sense, comes down to three key concepts: listening, helping, and building loyalty-and that’s what I try to represent with the ears, hands, and heart.
